EMERGENCY AND SAFETY
In case of emergency or accident in your lab, call for help. The emergency alarm must be activated if the accident puts people at risk. The alarm is found in the main entrance of the Department of Chemistry. Examples of accident that require the alarm activation are fire, explosion and gas leaking.
Any accident in the Department of Chemistry must be reported to Emergency Brigade.
Each laboratory and room of the building has a list of important emergency telephone numbers, that contain the brigade member numbers, as well as ambulance (SAMU; Phone: 192), fireman (Phone: 193), police (Phone: 190) and Department for Worker Health Care (DAST: Phones: 3409-4499 or 3409-4315 (DAST's secretary).
Be aware of the nearest brigade member and which one is responsible for the sector where your laboratory is located. The Department of Chemistry has a large diversity of substances that may be hazardous. Be aware of the risks of the substances used in your workplace. These information are displayed in the MSDS - Material safety data sheet (FISPQ in Portuguese).
For emergencies with possible health damage caused by chemicals, the Toxicology Service of Minas Gerais can provide information (in Portuguese) in immediate actions to reduce damages.

Fundação Mendes Pimentel (Fump) - UFMG
Fump, UFMG's student assistance foundation, offers the Program of Students Health (PSE), which includes medical, dental, nutritional and psychological care in a partnership with UFMG, SUS and Municipal Health Secretary. This program is available to students classified in Fump assistance levels I, II and III, monday-Friday, 8:00 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 17:00. For more information (in Portuguese) click

Department for Worker Health Care (DAST) - UFMG
